About Christmas on the Mountain
Christmas on the Mountain began as a small idea with a big heart in 2001. It began at a business called Homes America. As a company we wanted to do something to give back to the community. That is when the idea of helping less fortunate families at Christmas was born.
The first year we helped 37 children have a great Christmas. The next year we grew to 75 children. After the third year we continued to almost double each year. In 2007 we became a 501(c)3 non profit organization. With the help of an incredible community we are now able to put a smile on the face of over 500 children each year.
We receive the names of our recipients each year though the school counselors of Cumberland County. These are the people that see the growing need on a daily basis.
Each year in November we put big red barrels in several business locations around town. The community then donates toys allowing us to reach as many children as possible each year.
In December we invite the entire community to come together at our annual wrapping party. We get together as a group and wrap all the donated toys before they are dispersed to the families. It is a great day of fun and community.
